Job Summary
The Events Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and review of conference / tradeshow participation and customer-focused events within the Discovery & Safety Assessment (DSA) division globally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage, plan, and execute a section of conferences, tradeshows and CRL hosted events assigned for the DSA division.
• Understand the strategic business objectives and collaborate with both commercial and operational stakeholders to build and execute on a comprehensive plan of events that results in visible impact on revenue.
• Oversee and build on the successful range of CRL hosted scientific summit events across the manufacturing portfolio.
• Perform extensive research on each potential event; strategize on key initiatives to drive success, enforce a culture of continuous evaluation, and implement change to drive improvement.
• Establish and communicate out KPI’s (leads, pre-set meetings, attendees, survey results) for each event. Provide KPI metrics to the wider team and stakeholders, provide suggestions on improvements.
• Perform pre-event planning strategies to provide historical, demographic, and statistical analysis and return on investment.
• Provide advice and guidance to senior management regarding event budget requirements, ROI, suggested level of participation and recommendations for future event involvement.
• Select, manage, and build relationships with a selection of third-party vendors associated with event execution. Where possible provide expertise and advice to enhance ROI and the overall CRL experience at events.
• Manage the global event schedule, including all aspects of negotiation, contracting, preparation and logistics for CRL’s event involvement.
• Provide clear and concise information for stakeholders and attendees on participation, roles & responsibilities and expectations.
• Assist in the development and recommendation of departmental budget. Authorize expenditures in accordance with budget. Manage event expenses, including negotiation whilst striving to provide maximum value on investment by means of bundling, value adding and discount discussions.
• Evaluate event involvement, including effectiveness of activities, content, and messaging, and make changes and improvements as needed.
• Identify and research potential new events that meet the objective for growing new CRL business or acquisition.
• Ensure adequate staffing at all events and provide appropriate selection of marketing literature and materials.
• Organize, chair and record pre and post event planning meetings for each event. Develop event strategy from group discussion, assign tasks to complete strategy, and manage completion of all tasks to ensure prominent presence for CRL at the event.
• Identify and take advantage of all promotional opportunities available for each event.
• Determine and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent.
• Experience: 5-10 years related experience, ideally working within the life sciences tradeshow arena.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
• Certification/Licensure: None
• Other: Negotiation, organization, statistical analysis, problem solving and strong communication skills required.
This position requires regular domestic travel.
Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
