Job Summary
The Segment Marketing Manager – Pharma & Biotech develops and executes enterprise-wide segment-specific marketing strategies that deepen Charles River Laboratories’ engagement with biopharma innovators, drive pipeline growth, and strengthen our leadership along the drug development continuum. This role owns segment-specific growth initiatives, customer insights translation, go‑to‑market (GTM) programs, and sales enablement for the Pharma & Biotech segment, ensuring alignment across functional partners and regions.
Key Responsibilities:
Segment Strategy & Customer Insights
- Conduct market research, segment analysis, and competitive assessments; translate insights into actionable segment‑aligned strategies.
- Support development of customer segmentation strategies and segment prioritization.
Value Proposition & Messaging
- Develop segment-specific, enterprise-wide value propositions, workflows and messaging frameworks that reflect customer challenges and scientific/business drivers.
- Ensure alignment with Charles River’s enterprise portfolio narrative and BU-led product/service narratives.
Integrated Campaigns, GTM Execution & Strategic Events
- Build and execute integrated segment marketing campaigns across digital, ABM, events, media, and sales channels.
- Translate segment strategy into tactical GTM plans and regional activation.
- Partner with Events Marketing to shape and support strategic events that elevate Charles River’s leadership with Pharma & Biotech audiences.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
- Partner closely with BU Strategic Marketing, Regional Marketing, Digital Marketing, Events Marketing, and Sales Leadership.
- Work closely with Global Key Account Managers (GKAMs) to align on segment insights, value propositions, and account‑specific messaging.
- Ensure the segment’s voice is embedded across content, campaigns, events, KOL and customer engagement programs.
Sales Enablement
- Develop tools such as segment playbooks, customer profiles, competitive briefs, and capability decks et al.
Measurement, Reporting & Optimization
- Track performance referencing target KPIs such as pipeline contribution, lead quality, conversion rates, engagement metrics, and ROI.
- Deliver insights and recommendations to refine strategy and optimize marketing investments
Job Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, marketing, or related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in life sciences, biopharma, CRO/CDMO, or biotechs.
- Experience in segment marketing, demand generation, or strategic marketing.
- Strong analytical capabilities and comfortable working with data, segment insights, and VOC.
- Demonstrated success by executing integrated campaigns and GTM programs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed organization.
Preferred
- MBA or advanced scientific degree.
- Prior commercial (sales/marketing) experience supporting enterprise-scale portfolios and global customer segments.
- Familiarity with biopharma R&D, CMC, regulatory, and QC workflows.
- Knowledge of segmentation, value proposition development, CRM/marketing automation, and digital tools.

Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is $95,000 - $120,000K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
