Job Summary

This internship provides the opportunity to work within an agile Research & Development environment focused on evaluating new applications and assessing the current performance of microbial identification technologies, including Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, and DNA Sequencing systems. The intern will collaborate closely with R&D team members and gain hands‑on experience with evolving initiatives in experimental design and execution, raw data analysis, and interpreting results to understand their potential impact on product performance and operational efficiency.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Assist in the planning, execution, and analysis of R&D and/or Operations experiments, including evaluating data to identify and monitor trends. 
•    Contribute to a wide range of early‑stage and late‑stage R&D initiatives, gaining meaningful exposure to multiple scientific disciplines, experimental platforms, and research objectives as priorities evolve in a fast‑moving environment.
•    Perform subculturing of bacterial and fungal isolates using proper aseptic technique and support the preparation of media, reagents, and other laboratory materials. 
•    Prepare biological samples for downstream analysis on Mass Spectrometry and DNA sequencing platforms including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). 
•    Maintain accurate, complete, and well organized documentation to ensure data integrity and compliance with internal quality standards. 
•    Compile, organize, and present experimental data and results in a clear and concise manner. 
•    Perform routine laboratory operational tasks, including equipment upkeep, general cleaning, and adherence to all laboratory safety protocols and procedures.

 

Job Qualifications

 

•    Education: currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursing a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or related field.
•    Completion of Sophomore year with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
•    Exposure to scientific or research environments is preferred (undergraduate research experience is a plus).
•    Ability to work on multiple projects, strong attention to detail, and effective communication and listening skills in a teamwork environment.
•    Computer literacy to include word processing and the use of spreadsheets and databases.
•    This position seeks an intern for a minimum of a 12-week internship between May and August.

 

The pay range for this position is $20.00-21.00 per hour.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
