Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Operations Specialist to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Springhouse, PA. 

 

As the Associate Operations Specialist, you will provide environmental enrichment appropriate to species and support to multiple client’s lab animal facilities and technical services in Philadelphia and Springhouse, PA. 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provides technical procedure training to less experienced staff and researchers, and provide re-training as needed. 
  • Conduct laboratory procedures in compliance with established protocols/plans and with regulatory and laboratory requirements. 
  • Assist Operations Manager, provide coverage for monitor animal health and welfare while performing daily animal health observations and animal husbandry duties to include: performing daily equipment checks; providing appropriate food and water; performing cage changing and/or cage cleaning; recording animal health concerns. 
  • Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas.  
  • Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as assigned by the on-site supervisor or facility/attending veterinarian.  
  • Follow all procedures necessary to properly maintain animal housing areas, including room or facility personnel entry; personnel protective equipment use, and sanitation/decontamination of equipment and materials. 
  • Receive, inspect and properly house incoming animals. 
  • Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines; perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures. 
  • Sanitize, maintain, and repair caging materials as directed. Maintain cage wash facilities in a clean and organized manner.  
  • Maintain facility equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance on cage wash and autoclaves, including routine inspection of cleaning filters, roto-arms, and other critical control points as directed.  
  • Assist with the receipt, stocking and maintenance of supply inventories. 
  • Interact with customers as directed to resolve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints, and to provide technical assistance.  
  • Review quality assurance records, reports and training records for accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulations and client guidelines. 
  • Perform breeding and weaning procedures to ensure appropriate production levels. 
  • When on task as a supervisor, delegate work assignments and ensure completion of duties.  
  • Assist supervisors and Technologist with mentoring and training of new personnel. 

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the Associate Operations Specialist position: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree 
  • Two years plus years of laboratory animal experience 
  • AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) level preferred.  
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences preferred 

The pay range for this position is $30 to $34 USD per hour.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
