Job Summary

 

As a Senior Data Engineer for our Enterprise Data Analytics team. Your role will be key in integrating, mastering, and ensuring the quality of our data across all business functions, ultimately transforming how Charles River operates through data science and advanced analytics. In this role, primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Design and build a modern data warehouse in the cloud and develops technical solutions to complex problems;
  • Develop proof-of-concept (POC) solutions to help business units better visualize their business needs and to clarify requirements for development;
  • Work with Business Technology Partners to understand business problems;
  • Provide recommendations to business via analytics consulting services;
  • Data ingestion and modeling for digital customer platform;
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear and user-friendly manner. Perform testing, resolve issues, and automate unit tests. Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Conduct data profiling and cleansing as needed for each data source;
  • Build code using skills in advanced SQL Programming: PL/SQL, T-SQL, U-SQL, that automates data validation;
  • Review reports with results of data profiling on any new data source for business consumption.

Key Elements

 

We are looking for the following minimum qualifications for this role:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any related discipline;
  • 7+ years of experience in ETL design, development, and performance tuning using the Microsoft BI Stack in a multi-dimensional data warehousing environment;
  • 7+ years of advanced SQL programming expertise (PL/SQL, T-SQL);
  • 5+ years of experience in Enterprise Data & Analytics solution architecture;
  • 3+ years of experience in Python Programming;
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure, especially for data-heavy/analytics applications leveraging relational and NoSQL databases, Data Warehousing, and Big Data solutions;
  • 3+ years of experience with key Azure services: Azure Data Factory, Data Lake Gen2, Analysis Services, Databricks, Blob Storage, SQL Database, Cosmos DB, App Service, Logic Apps, and Functions;
  • 2+ years of experience designing data models aligning with business requirements and analytics needs.

 

 

Role Specific Information:

 

  • Location: Remote;
  • Annual bonus based on performance;
  • Schedule: Daytime between Monday and Friday;
  • Permanent position as of the hiring, full-time 37.5hrs per week.

About Safety Assessment
Charles River is committed to helping our partners expedite their preclinical drug development with exceptional safety assessment services, state-of-the-art facilities and expert regulatory guidance. From individual specialty toxicology and IND enabling studies to tailored packages and total laboratory support, our deeply experienced team can design and execute programs that anticipate challenges and avoid roadblocks for a smooth, efficient journey to market.  Each year approximately 300 investigational new drug (IND) programs are conducted in our Safety Assessment facilities.
