Job Overview

The Security Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of facility security to ensure the safety of personnel and the protection of company assets. This role provides leadership, direction, and training to security staff while enforcing security protocols and responding to incidents. The Security Supervisor develops, implements, and administers security programs designed to safeguard personnel, physical assets, and intellectual property while ensuring compliance with all applicable government regulations and organizational policies.
In addition to managing staff, this position conducts investigations related to security incidents, noncompliance, and potential legal or policy violations, documenting findings and supporting corrective actions.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct supervision in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; provide coaching and complete annual performance reviews by required deadlines.
  • Ensure security coverage, post assignments, patrol schedules, and operational priorities are maintained.
  • Conduct daily shift briefings, communicate expectations, and ensure effective handoffs in between shifts.
  • Monitor officer performance, professionalism, appearance, and adherence to standards.
  • Lead and maintain focus of the security team on operational priorities and both internal and external customer requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain site access control processes, including badge access administration; contractor access; deliveries and restricted area controls.
  • Serve as the initial site security response leader for incidents, emergencies, and security concerns.
  • Coordinate team logistics, ensuring necessary resources are secure to support operational needs.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvements to management.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain all required security policies and procedures.
  • Support onboarding, training and qualification of new security team members.
  • Provide ongoing training to security staff to ensure proficiency and compliance.
  • Assist security management with projects, briefings, and other assigned initiatives.
  • Identify operational gaps and escalate concerns to security management.
  • Provide coverage for security staff absences as needed.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations in collaboration with local management, Human Resources, and Corporate Security; document findings and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support recruitment efforts by assisting in interviews and selecting qualified personnel.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and compensation adjustments.
  • Partner with Human Resources and management to address disciplinary matters and prepare appropriate documentation.
  • Identify training and development needs of team members; support the design and delivery of departmental training programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and communication of departmental systems and BOPs.
  • Ensure that departmental equipment is maintained in good working conditions, and that departmental area(s) are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.

Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in security related field preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a business setting with at least 3 of those years directly related to a security function
  • Supervisor experience preferred.
  • Certification/Licensure: Valid Driver’s license.
  • This position requires weekend, holiday, and/or after-hour shift coverage, as needed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa, now or in the future.

 

WORKPLACE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employees must be able to lift, move, manipulate, and/or hold heavy objects up to and including 50 pounds; this includes work materials, equipment, and/or animals.
  • Must be able to perform procedures, which require, talking, hearing, standing or sitting for long periods of time, entering data into a computer, using appropriate instruments, reaching with hands and arms, working in narrow spaces, and wearing safety equipment (PPE) according to OSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Works in a research environment, which requires use of sharp objects, working around mechanical parts, working with or near known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and/or biological hazards, exposure to fumes and airborne particles, working at noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.The employee regularly wo
  • rks with live animals with risk of exposure to allergens, zoonotic disease, and biohazards.
  • The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to high depending upon the species housed.


The pay range for this position is $75-80k/year. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location
