Profile and Requirements

 

Working closely with the Site Lead, H&S Team, and Quality & Compliance Manger this role will be central in shaping, leading, and implementing our HSQE strategy across the Margate site.

Key Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Manager:

 

  • Lead and develop the company’s HSQE strategy, policies, and management systems.
  • Oversee health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance across all projects.
  • Carry out and report on audits, inspections, and site visits.
  • Support site teams, and supply chain with practical HSQE guidance.
  • Oversee the management of the Maintenance Department ensuring that objectives and customers’ expectations are met.
  • Ensure that expenditure is controlled in line with the annual budget.
  • Ensure compliance with UK legislation, CDM Regulations, and ISO standards.
  • Review and approve RAMS, quality plans, and environmental management plans.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions.
  • Carry out performance appraisals of direct reports.
  • Act as the key point of contact for HSQE matters with clients, consultants, and enforcing bodies. 

 

Requirements for the Health and Safety Manager:

 

  • NEBOSH General & Construction 
  • Boiler house risk assessment training (BOAS)
  • A degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science
  • Site Manager Safety Training Schem (SMSTS)
  • Tech IOSH or higher
  • In-depth Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations
  • Comprehensive understanding of the laws and standards governing construction and site safety.
  • Risk Management, Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks
  • Strong communication skills to effectively disseminate safety information and conduct training sessions.
  • Innovative and practical problem-solving abilities to address health and safety challenges.
  • Organisational Skills, Proficiency in managing documentation, conducting audits, and maintaining records related to health and safety.
  • Full UK driving licence due to site location 

 

Qualifications (Nice to have)

 

  • Some understanding of ISO 9001
  • Diploma in industrial boiler plant management (BOAS Manager)
  • A professional certification such as the Certified Safety Professional

Hours: 35 Hrs a week Mon - Friday (Flexibility required)
