Charles River Laboratories are excited to be recruiting for an Associate Technical Leader to join our High Peak, UK site on a permanent basis. This is an onsite role, with expectation to be able to travel to High Peak daily. 

 

As an Associate Technical Leader, you’ll be a key part of our scientific operations at Charles River. They will help to drive the innovative scientific and technical strategy of the Retrogenix platform technology and positively impact business effectiveness for the site, working with and mentoring their peers and colleagues to deliver top science to key stakeholders.

 


What you’ll be doing:


•    Implementation of appropriate automation to support the site automation and software strategy.


•    Knowledge, or proven ability to build knowledge, and understanding of microarray spotting technologies and analysis.


•    Routine use and knowledge of robotics and liquid handling solutions to replace manual processes. 


•    Mentor and support the development of technical ladder colleagues through provision of training, up-skilling to ensure High Peak has the capability to deliver for our clients. 


•    Liaise with 3rd party vendors and support production of business plans to aid CAPEX decisions. 


•    Understanding and experience of process improvement.


•    Challenging thinking and using own initiative to help to influence, define and deliver scientific /technical objectives for self and others.


•    Collaborate effectively with colleagues in multidisciplinary teams.


•    Communicate clearly and effectively with key stakeholders.

Job Qualifications

Skills and Experience:


•    BSc/MSc (preferred) within a relevant scientific discipline


•    Strong technical expertise in using robotics and liquid handling platforms in a laboratory-based environment. Experience of working at other CROs/Biotech/Pharma companies is preferred. 


•    Demonstrable track record of upskilling and training junior colleagues is essential. 


•    Excellent attention to detail, time management and communication skills also a must. 


•    Able to effectively problem solve and make sound, rational decisions which positively influence the progress of projects and delivery of service to clients.
