Director Strategic Logistics with excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.
About your role:
As Director Strategic Logistics you are responsible for the air transportation of all non-human primate supply globally (North America, Europe, Asia and Africa) and all associated export and import affairs, including without limitation development and maintenance of relationships with air carriers, ground handlers and airports and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to the transportation of non-human primates. Coordinating of NHP air transports with site leadership, quarantine facilities, members of the NHP Supply team and NHP farms. You will interface regularly with global teams in the everyday conduct of business.
Essential responsibilities:
You are responsible for on-time and on-budget global imports of non-human primates and ensure CRL remains compliant with all applicable rules and regulations in doing so.
You develop comprehensive air transportation strategy – scouts, analyzes, onboards, and qualifies new air carriers, ground handlers and airports to optimize capacity and cost and diversify the supply chain. Lead contract negotiations and contract review for existing and new providers.
Own the direct relationship and partnership with all air transporters, ground handlers and airports and carries out performance audits and compliance checks to ensure required standards are being met. Acts as a consultant to management and transporters on matters pertaining to logistical policies and procedures. Keeps abreast of pertinent regulations and responds accordingly.
Authorize air transport invoices and cross checks with imports, support PO requisition process. Work with Accounts team to resolve any payment issues related to NHPs supply and logistics.
What is required?
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in business related discipline or equivalent work experience;
• You bring at least 10 years of experience in logistics & imports to the table, preferably with special cargo, in diverse regions such as Asia, Africa, North America and Europe;
• Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time;
• Proficiency in SAP or related financial systems and MS tools;
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities to support the business;
• Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and eagerness to learn;
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
