Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Animal Facility Supervisor to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Cambridge, MA.

 

As the Facility Supervisor, you will provide direct supervision of daily activities of Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs (CRADL) animal facilities. Provides supervision and training for employees in the Animal Care Technician team. Maintains performance levels consistent with and according to company standards, the CRADL organization and client requirements. Prioritizes and completes on-going tasks independently following established policies and guidelines. Liaises with clients to ensure satisfaction with technician performance.

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Supervises directly and through others the daily activities of staff conducting husbandry services in the facility.
  • Plan, create, assign, and monitor work schedules for staff daily husbandry assignments; assign weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage.
  • Monitor and document task completion and deviations from defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and submit monthly to CRADL management in a timely fashion to support contract deliverables.
  • Investigate animal welfare concerns as directed by the Animal Welfare Team or Attending Veterinarian.
  • Propose and deliver appropriate mitigations to active concerns while preventing future recurrences, solicit relevant information from staff and client researchers to accurately assess and effectively promote animal welfare.
  • Ability to perform or obtain proficiency to provide husbandry as needed.
  • Monitor acquisition, receipt, storage and issue of supplies and animals.
  • Inspect animal housing systems to ensure proper setup and function.
  • Supervise the use of all space throughout the facility (animal housing, procedural, service, and storage areas) and works with the PM in assigning the space to clients.
  • Place & receive orders to maintain appropriate levels of inventory of supplies including bedding,feed, cleaning materials and husbandry supplies.
  • Conduct routine quality assurance inspections of all animals holding and support facilities to determine the degree to which established levels of animal health, facilities condition, sanitation levels are being met/exceeded.

 

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Facility Supervisor position.

 

  • High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in animal or life sciences field preferred.
  • Minimum four 4 years in a laboratory animal facility of which 2 years is supervisory or lead technician experience.
  • Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) certification from AALAS or Certified Supervisor (CS) certification from ICPM preferred.

The pay range for this position is $87K-95K USD annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
