Job Summary

The Business Development Executive’s primary responsibility is to develop new business relationships and expand existing relationships by analyzing account potential; initiating, developing, and closing sales that drive profitable revenue growth.  The Business Development Executive is directly responsible for achieving or exceeding quarterly and annual area sales targets and gross profit growth within an assigned geographic territory and various market segments such as Cell and Gene Therapy, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Regenerative Medicine, Vaccine, and Academic R&D.  
Essential Responsibilities
•    Demonstrate technical, negotiation, and selling skills.
•    Work with management to develop, prepare, and implement a comprehensive territory business plan to identify new target accounts and target opportunities within an assigned geographic area to achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets.
•    Develop and maintain short- and long-term sales pipeline to consistently generate revenue.
•    Build team relationships with other Sales and Operational staff to maximize sales revenue and territory pipeline.
•    Serve as the voice of the customers in their territory by collecting and communicating VOC to Marketing to improve customer experience and anticipate market changes to adapt and respond to new product and service needs.
•    Work with management to prepare and provide accurate territory forecasts throughout the year to track achievements versus goals. 
•    Enhance job knowledge by participating in local educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. 
•    Comfortable working with ambiguity in a dynamic and changing environment.
•    Assist with updating and maintaining applicable databases (e.g., SalesForce.com)
•    Assist with executing other daily tasks or special projects, as assigned.
•    Independently travel to meet with current and prospective customers, attend vendor shows and seminars, and sales meetings.   In person travel should achieve the goal of increasing revenue and building territory pipeline via prospecting, increasing brand awareness and building relationships and strategic partnerships with end users of the product portfolio.

Education, Experience, and Licensure


•    Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in a scientific, business or marketing related discipline; master’s degree preferred and/or Ph.D. preferred. Certified Sales Professional designation preferred.
•    Three to five years previous experience in a similar sales role, preferably in selling to academic, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical researchers and organizations.
•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
•    Familiar with primary human cells, stem cells, immunology, life science research, drug screen, toxicity test, cell-based assay, hematology, or flow cytometry
 

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $90,400 - $101,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
