Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Trainer II to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Bethesda, MD.
As the Technical trainer II, you will develop, deliver, document, and report technical skills training programs involving both rodent laboratory animal species in accordance with client’s facility SOPs, Charles River policy and applicable Federal regulations.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Schedule, perform and document all relevant task-specific technical, husbandry and cagewash training for all contract positions in coordination with the SOPs.
- Perform continuing education and training to maintain and enhance employee skills and capabilities, including SOP or ASP revisions, animal welfare topics, operations and maintenance, and technical advancements.
- Conduct AALAS certification training, monthly health & safety training; conduct and/or coordinate ASP-directed training.
- Coordinate training schedule with the hiring and training demands of the sites.
- Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, in laboratory animal techniques.
- Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of technical training.
- Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods
- Provide didactic and hands-on technical training on SOPs. Monitor technical methods used by employees and make on the spot corrections.
- Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
- Work with selected management representatives to develop adjunct training team members to be qualified trainers in specific job functions and or topics.
- Make suggestions on improving technical and training procedures in the animal facilities.
- Maintain accurate and complete database for training records.
- Provide facility orientation to Investigator staff as needed.
- Actively interact with customers as required to solve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints and to provide technical assistance.
- Reviews, comprehends and complies with all SOP's and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area.
- Prepares and submits written reports, charts, logs and inventories as requested by Supervisor.
- Occasionally provide technical support, animal husbandry, and assist with research procedures as necessary to respond to surge in work load or personnel shortages
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Candidate must possess at least one of the following combinations of education/experience

Bachelors degree in Animal Science or related field plus, 5 years of rodent experience with 2 year of supervisory experience and 2 years teaching work related classes as an ancillary duty.

Associate degree in Veterinary Technology plus LATG certification, 5 years of rodent experience with 2 year of supervisory experience and 2 years teaching work related classes as an ancillary duty.
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - 39.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
