Job Summary

BASIC SUMMARY:

Maintain the scheduling and operation of the vivarium requiring the coordination of animal room availability, species availability, housing requirements and services of operating departments within the company to ensure optimal vivarium utilization. Application of skills and knowledge to assist in providing accurate information for proposals and general site capabilities. Key skills include excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, good comprehension skills, creative thinking skills, good writing skills, attention to detail, experience with good laboratory procedures, protocols, standard operating procedures, and regulatory laws/guidelines. Demonstration of creative problem solving and thinking skills to increase facility use and adaptation to client needs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical support to managers, senior management, study directors and clients.
  • Knowledge, availability status and procurement of laboratory animal strains and species including the interaction with established vendors to acquire animal species in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and modify applicable scheduling programs and files.
  • Other duties as assigned by departmental management.

 

The starting pay for this position is $26.00 per hour. Please note that starting salaries vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High School diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.), preferred. Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from two year college, recommended.
  • Experience: minimum of 3 years company experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure: None.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without a sponsor visa, now or in the future.
  • Other: Comprehensive knowledge of GLP and other federal regulations and guidelines pertaining to preclinical research. Comprehensive knowledge of creating, maintaining, and promoting optimal utilization of various database systems. Detail oriented.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Repetitive dexterity/motion of hands and arms.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and vision.
  • Able to squat, bend or reach.
  • Able to walk at least 1 mile and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift up to 30lbs at a time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and work/type at a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office working conditions, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
