Charles River in Mattawan is a full-service, safety assessment site located in Southwest Michigan. Each year, at our 1.1 million square foot facility, our experienced technical staff conducts thousands of discovery, drug safety, bioanalytical, analytical, and medical device studies.
Charles River in Mattawan performs general toxicology studies and specialized studies such as DART, ototoxicity, ocular toxicology, and abuse liability. The facility also supports the development of medical devices and gene and cell therapies.
Living in Mattawan
Our Mattawan facility, located in Southwest Michigan, is halfway between Chicago and Detroit. The site is only 10 minutes away from Kalamazoo (yes, there really is a Kalamazoo!), which is well known for Gibson guitars, hiking trails, and local breweries.
The opportunities to explore our wonderful lower and Upper Peninsulas are endless. One can easily travel any direction to find something beautiful, such as Mackinaw Island, wine-taste on Old Mission Peninsula, and cruise the snowmobile highways of the Upper Peninsula. Many amenities include county fairs, watching an afternoon Tiger’s game, a concert at the Fillmore, or cheering on two of our big 10 Universities.
