Job Summary
Provide clinical and technical support to CRL North American Research Models and Services (RMS) operations. Responsible for clinical assessment and veterinary care of NA RMS colonies, provision of technical support to internal and external customers, as well as implementation of best practices and methodologies of a technical or innovative nature at NA RMS sites. Serve as alternate/designee to the attending veterinarian (AV) in support of clinical assessment, veterinary care, and regulatory support of NARM animal care program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as principal clinical veterinarian for North American (NA) barrier, gnotobiotic, and GEMS, and RADS operations.
- Assist in maintaining animal program compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, accreditation (i.e., AAALAC) standards, and corporate policies.
- Perform animal examinations to complete import/export documentation necessary to support sale and delivery of animal models to customers.
- Collaborate on professional and technical input for NA Marketing, Product Management, Sales, Quality Assurance, the IACUC, Occupational Health and Safety, for all NA Production sites for both internal and external customers regarding NA Research Models and Services.
- As requested, provide clinical and technical support to other business units including but not limited to, Research Animal Diagnostic Services (RADS), Insourcing Solutions (IS), and in vivo biosafety (IVB).
- Direct and manage research model characterization and quality programs; manage and perform departmental R&D projects.
- Represent NA RMS in Quality Assurance reviews of critical suppliers and vendors supporting NA RMS.
- Maintain professional visibility in the field through publications, presentations, and professional organizations. Participate in company sponsored educational efforts.
- This position may require regular domestic and occasional international travel no more than 20%.
Job Qualifications
- Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/ VMD) degree or equivalent from an AVMA recognized school of veterinary medicine.
- Experience: Five (5) or more years of related experience, with a focus on small animal (rodent) models required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
- Certification/Licensure: Current license to practice Veterinary Medicine in one or more States within the US is required. USDA accreditation is required. A license to practice in at least one of the following states MA, CA, NC, or NY is required within 6 months of hire . Specialty training in laboratory animal medicine including certification by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) or equivalent is highly desired.
- Other: Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as proficiency in public speaking, i.e. ability to deliver a technical presentation to a scientific audience are essential. Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving abilities are required.
Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is $179,000 - $184,000 USD. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
