Charles River Laboratories are now recruiting for a Junior Technician on a full time, permanent basis to work at our High Peak, UK site located in the heart of the UK’s Peak District national park.

 

This site is a specialist biotechnology site with proprietary Cell Microarray Technology. We provide unique receptor ID / off-target screening services to accelerate, inform, and improve the safety of the discovery and pre-clinical development process for clients. We are recognised as leading technology within the biotherapeutic field.


 As a Junior Technician, you’ll be working in a lab-based support role, under close supervision to execute tasks in accordance with established procedures. Full, comprehensive training will be provided in the role. 


This opportunity would suit someone who is looking to start their career in life sciences, a degree is not necessary for this role. 

Job Description

Duties include:


•    Maintain a high standard of laboratory cleanliness and housekeeping in all laboratory areas.
•    Monitoring and maintaining core stocks of consumables.
•    Assist with day-to-day laboratory maintenance tasks.
•    Maintain a high standard of waste management within the laboratories. This includes following the specified disposal waste streams may include the use of autoclaves (training provided).
•    Maintain levels of laboratory buffers / reagents.
•    Routine cleaning of equipment e.g. tissue culture hoods, incubators, water baths, freezers.
•    Assisting with the receipt of incoming and outgoing packages/deliveries as required.
•    Logging and maintaining accurate records.
•    To assist with admin tasks as required e.g. distribution of items across site, reception support.

 

Skills and Qualifications:
•    GCSE in Maths and English, as a minimum. NO DEGREE REQUIRED.
•    Desire to work in the Life Sciences industry 
•    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
•    Good organisational skills - ability to organise your own daily and weekly tasks effectively.
•    Be an effective team player.
•    To have good attention to detail.
•    Computer literacy – good basic computer skills and the aptitude to quickly learn and use new software packages following training.
•    Able to travel to our High Peak site daily. 
•    Candidates must have full Right to Work in the UK and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future as we are unable to provide this for this position. 

 

The salary for this position is £24,784/annum + bonus + benefits. Please note that the salary varies within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
