Job Summary

We are seeking a Team Leader I for our Necropsy team at our Safety Assessment site located in Ashland, Ohio.

 

Provide technical leadership on all daily activities in the areas of scheduling, gross pathology findings, supervision, study assignment setup and database management. Perform complex necropsy functions and provide expertise in the area of necropsy to other staff and visitors as needed. Actively promote teamwork in all aspects of each necropsy activity. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (The fundamental Competencies/Skills & Responsibilities of the role (products and services provided/results accomplished) include, but are not limited to, those listed:

 

  • Oversee all necropsy procedures to ensure that they are standardized, performed consistently, and recorded correctly.
  • Assist in the review of necropsy raw data.
  • Confirm all appropriate necropsy observations.
  • Promote teamwork within the necropsy department and between other departments.
  • Ensure accurate, high-quality work, and adherence to pertinent departmental policies, practices, and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols].
  • Ensure that weekend necropsy laboratory assignments have been made and the personnel understand what needs to be completed.
  • Assist/provide input to supervisor/manager regarding personnel management activities such as: providing regular direction and feedback on performance.
  • Ensure that tissues are packed, archived, and shipped according to protocol. Act as floor support during necropsy; troubleshoot delays, communicate with Clinical Pathology and other departments to provide timely necropsy starts.
  • Assist in generating the weekly Necropsy Reference List.
  • Attend protocol meetings to confirm necropsy procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

The pay for this position is $25/hr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location

Qualifications

(Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities required to accomplish the essential functions) include but are not limited to:

 

  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) preferred.
  • Experience: 3 or more years necropsy experience preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory 
    substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure: N/A
  • Other: Good communication, time management and leadership skills. Must be able to meet all 
    requirements and competencies of a Necropsy Technician III.

 

Physical Demands

 

  • Employees must be able to lift, move, manipulate, and/or hold heavy objects up to and including 50 pounds; this includes work materials, equipment, and/or animals.
  • Must be able to perform laboratory procedures, which require, talking, hearing, standing, or sitting for long periods of time, entering data into a computer, using appropriate instruments, reaching with hands and arms, working in narrow spaces, and wearing safety equipment (PPE) according to OSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, 
    and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment

 

  • Works in a research laboratory environment, which requires use of sharp objects, working around mechanical parts, working with or near known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and/or biological hazards, exposure to fumes and airborne particles, working at noise levels ranging from quiet to moderately noisy.

 

Comments

  • May occasionally work weekend/holidays and/or rotating on-call schedule
