Located at our corporate headquarters, the Wilmington production facility offers a variety of immunodeficient and VAF-Elite® animal models. Wilmington also maintains the foundation colonies that support all global production. These foundation colonies help maintain the genetic heterogeneity of outbred stock, and inbred colonies to prevent the genetic drift that would otherwise occur in geographically separate breeding colonies. Through our exclusive International Genetic Standardization (IGS) program, these foundation colonies are connected to production colonies maintained at facilities throughout the world.
Living in Wilmington
Wilmington, Massachusetts is known as the place where the Baldwin apple was discovered. Wilmington has many historical and cultural buildings around town, not to mention their recognized Silver Lake which is a popular tourist haunt. Silver Lake Town Beach is open for swimming in the summer, ice-skating in winter, and fishing year-round. Wilmington is 14 miles from Boston and public transportation is available throughout the city.
