Working in Houston
The Charles River Houston nonhuman primate facility is a center of excellence specializing in the integration of animal welfare and environmental enrichment programs with the dedicated care and management of nonhuman primate research models. It is situated on a secure 19-acre campus.
Our facility is indoors, allowing for increased biosecurity, opportunity for more human interactions, protection from the elements, as well as enabling the colonies to acclimate to environmental and housing conditions that are similar to client facilities.
The facility is AAALAC-accredited and compliant with regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (USF&WS), the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Living in Houston
Houston is the country’s fourth largest city, which also has the most diverse population in the nation. With more than 2.2 million residents, this young, yet affordable town has many choices to entertain all.
Much of daily life in Houston happens outdoors, thanks to mild, year-round temperatures. For museum lovers, visit the museum district for a dose of Houston Museum of Natural Science and Houston Museum of Fine Art. Live performances at The Miller Outdoor Theater are a must, and as a plus, Houston is one of the few cities that has world-known performing arts, such as Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, and Houston Symphony Orchestra.
